CASA of the Heartland hosts community luncheon

On Tuesday, CASA of the Heartland hosted a community appreciation luncheon as a way to thank the donors, volunteers and Friends of CASA who supported CASA from the previous year and encourage continued participation for the upcoming year. This was the first time CASA has hosted this event.

“Lives are being changed every day by our CASA volunteers, and we couldn’t do the work that we do without the support of our community,” said CASA of the Heartland Executive Director Michelle Kail. “It is important that we show our appreciation for the donors and volunteers who make CASA of the Heartland possible.”

During the event, CASA of the Heartland highlighted their successes from 2023 and gave credit to their donors, volunteers and Friends of CASA. In 2023, CASA of the Heartland served 182 children between Hardin and LaRue Counties with 55 volunteers. CASA volunteers advocate for children navigating the Family Court System due to dependency, abuse, or neglect and are singularly focused on the well-being of the child for whom they advocate.

“The generosity of our community has been amazing, but there is still work to be done,” said Grant Niebuhr, Board Chair for CASA of the Heartland. “In 2024, our hope is that every child that needs a CASA volunteer can have one.”

There are currently 51 children in Hardin and LaRue Counties on the waitlist for a CASA volunteer.  CASA of the Heartland is continuously seeking dedicated volunteers to serve children, as well as community partnerships to support their mission.
