CASA Response to Coronavirus
09/21/2020
CASA of the Heartland has created a COVID Policy for Staff, Office Visitors, and Visitation with Children. Here are the policy highlights:
  • We have begun rotating staff within the CASA of the Heartland Office and someone should typically be in the office.
  • We will see visitors by appointment only. Social distancing guidelines established

In-Person Visitation Between Volunteer/Staff and Children:
  • Volunteers and staff can begin in-person (volunteer/child) contact with their assigned CASA kid(s).
  • Social distancing guidelines and pre-screen questionnaire the day of the visit must be completed.
  • Volunteers must sign a waiver/liability release prior to conducting visits.
  • There should be no pressure by a caregiver to do the in-person visits.  Should a caregiver feel uncomfortable, CASA will revert to virtual visitations.

If there are any questions on the policies or forms or process, Volunteers are encouraged to contact their Advocate Manager or Norma Hatfield, Executive Director.

CASA Response to Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Dear CASA Community Partners and Supporters,

The health and safety of our CASA Volunteers, staff, children, families, and community is of utmost importance to CASA of the Heartland. As we continue to monitor developments regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19), CASA is taking precautions to reduce potential exposure to the virus.

CASA of the Heartland will be restricting outside visitors from entering our office locations until further notice. Staff will continue to be available via email, phone, text, and/or video to our Volunteers and community stakeholders. CASA Volunteers will continue to visit their children remotely. Volunteers should monitor your emails for further information and updates. Our program’s upcoming in-person Informational Evening on Tuesday, March 24th from 6-8 PM at the Home of Philanthropy is cancelled, but our team is working to offer this session remotely. CASA’s upcoming Spring Training (April 20th-30th) is currently scheduled to go on as planned.

We encourage you to visit our Website and Facebook Page for ongoing updates regarding CASA of the Heartland’s operations and the COVID-19 situation. Please take the virus, and guidance from health officials, seriously and use precautions – wash your hands regularly, stay home if you are ill or feel ill, keep your “social distance”, disinfect surfaces regularly, cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, and be especially careful if you are over the age of 65 and have existing respiratory issues.

Thank you for your understanding, patience, and ongoing commitment to our children.

Most Respectfully, CASA Staff and Board of Directors

CASA Response to Coronavirus (COVID-19) - 03/27/2020 Update

Dear CASA Community Partners and Supporters,

The Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has brought difficulties and uncertainties to us all, but together we will get through this. We are continually monitoring this situation and taking steps to ensure the health and safety of our staff, Volunteer Advocates, the children we serve, and our community.

With guidance from government officials, our office will remain closed and staff will continue working remotely. Staff are in constant communication with Advocates to provide support and guidance and ensure the children and families we serve have support, information, and resources they need during these uncertain and stressful times.

The COVID-19 situation has impacted our ability to offer in-person activities including informational sessions and trainings. With in-person meetings being cancelled, CASA will be utilizing virtual tools to offer CASA 101 informational sessions and Volunteer Pre-Service Training. Please stay tuned to our Facebook page for further announcements.

Lastly, thank you for your continued support through these difficult times. Please stay safe and practice social distancing to mitigate exposure to COVID-19. Visit kycovid19.ky.gov for the latest information regarding the Coronavirus in Kentucky. CASA will also be posting updates regarding the COVID-19 situation on our website. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email us. "Together, we can flatten the curve."

Most Sincerely,

Your CASA of the Heartland Team
